Eight Weeks

Dear Alice,

I wish I had thought to start this sooner, but since you haven't really done much these first few weeks, I'm not too worried. Today, you are eight weeks old. I can't believe how quickly these past couple of months have gone by. It's so trite to say it, but I feel like it was just last week that you were being placed on my chest after your birth.

Daddy and I hit the baby jackpot when you were born. You've been such a sweet and sleepy baby that we weren't even sure if you knew what crying was for the first few weeks. You're still sweet and rather sleepy, but now you've found your voice and like to let us know when you're not happy (although, you're still fairly quiet when you do cry). You're more wakeful during the day now as well which makes for interesting play time with your brother. He likes to kiss you and pat your head, and you like to stare lovingly at him. It's really sweet to see.

Your biggest accomplishment so far has been smiling. Your first smile came about a week later than your brother's first, but since then you've gotten more and more smiley with each passing day. You seem to love it when other people smile at you which makes you smile which then makes us smile. It's just a circle of smiles all around!

Daddy, Aidan, and I love you so much and can't wait to see what the rest of your first year has in store for you.

Love, Mama
